Journey Through Grief
A New Bereavement Group sponsored by Good Samaritan, St John Baden, and Our Lady of Peace. The Bereavement Group will be held on Thursday evenings from September 21 through October 26, 2017 at Good Samaritan in the Parish Offices from 6:30 - 7:45 pm. The group is to support those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Participants will explore, within a trusting and nurturing environment, their reactions to loss, learn about the grieving process, develop strategies for coping, and begin to integrate this change in order to start healing. Blessing of the Pets
On Saturday, September 30 at 1:00 pm there will be a blessing of pets on the front yard of the parish house, rain or shine. This traditional blessing of pets reminds us that we are God's stewards of creation and that we must cherish, protect, and nurish all God's creatures azs St Francis did. We invite all parishioners to bring their pets for this special blessing.
Anointing of the Sick Mass
Sunday, October 15 @ 10:30 am. The Sacrament of the Anointing will be administered during the 10:30 Mass. Parishioners are invited to bring loved ones, but if they are unable to attend, call the Parish Office to arrange a visit from Father Jim.
The Apostolate Committee would like to thank everyone who donated their time and talents making afghans and lap afghans for the sick and shut ins last year. The program was so successful, we delivered approximately 130 afghans through last December. We are once again asking all knitters and crocheters if you would give of your time and talents to donate a lap afghan. The happiness that radiates from the people receiving these warms the heart. If you have any questions please call Jackie at 724-869- 9908. Any donations made can be dropped off at the parish office, Monday thru Friday, 9am to 4pm.
Discover the simple pleasures of Ohio’s Amish Country
Our Lady of Peace is sponsoring a bus trip to the Ohio Amish Country on October 7, 2017. This one day trip will depart from Northern Lights Shopping Center traveling to Sugarcreek, Millersberg, Walnut Creek, and Berlin, Ohio. It includes a full, all you can eat breakfast buffet, a stop at Breitenbach Winery, shopping at the Amish Flea Market (this has all new items, you’ll love it!), shopping at the unusual shops in Berlin, a visit to the Christmas shop or the Antique shop, a full buffet dinner which includes all you can eat chicken, ham, and roast beef, mashed potatoes, noodles stuffing, vegetables, coffee, tea, lemonade, and a variety of desserts. After dinner we can shop in the Dutch Valley complex where cheese and baked goods can be found as well as more home decorations. Cost of the trip which includes bus, breakfast, dinner, all taxes and gratuity is $65 per person. We are limited to 50 seats on the bus. Mobsters, Molls and Marinara
Come join the party at Our Lady of Peace dinner/show on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017 when we will be having a murder mystery show performed by the professional theater company Mystery’s Most Wanted. Stephens Hall will be transformed into a party with a gin joint set in the roaring twenties, where every night was New Year’s Eve. But “speak easy” because the bathtub gin won’t be the only thing that will kill ya! Games of chance Al Capone style, a catered dinner (meal TBA), all the beer you want, setups, and prizes (if you can be lucky enough) to solve the mystery of a local Chicago crime boss’s demise. (Who knows, you may even be the mug who save the day!) Tickets, which are $30 per person, are limited to 150 seats. New York City
Our Lady of Peace is sponsoring a trip to New York City on Dec. 2 - 3, 2017 [Sat. and Sun.]. The bus will pick us up at Northern Lights Shopping Center where we will travel to exciting New York City just in time for holiday shopping and sightseeing. Upon arrival in New York, we will check in at the Hilton Meadowlands Hotel, then it's off to explore the city of lights. Highlights of the tour include a visit to the 911 Memorial, a drive to Battery Park to view the Statue of Liberty, the Broadway production of Miss Saigon [which is optional] and the lights of Broadway, dinner in Manhattan, breakfast, shopping time, and a visit to Trinity Cemetery where many notable people from the Revolutionary War are buried including Alexander Hamilton, Liza and Angelica Schuyler, James Monroe, plus more from the Revolution, as well as Clement Moore [author of The Night Before Christmas], Robert Fulton, and John Jacob Astor, to name only a few of the famous buried here. Prices, which include everything mentioned, are $345.00 per person double occupancy, $320.00 p/p triple, $300 p/p quad, and $420 single occupancy. If you don't want to attend the Broadway show of Miss Saigon and would rather shop, you can subtract $77.00 from the total cost. A $150.00 deposit is required to hold your reservation, with the remaining balance due by Oct. 23. You must tell us with your deposit if you would like to see Miss Saigon so we can hold the tickets.
